Walking in
Andalucia |
 |
Just take the "Walking
Pack" from El
Molino del Conde, which includes laminated maps, compass and route notes, and discover
some great walking. Our village (Villanueva de Tapia) lies on the famous trans-Europe GR7
hiking route, which starts in Athens and ends in Tarifa. For the less ambitious, here are just some of the local walks:
The Bar Walk (1 hour or less).
A lovely hilltop walk with long views
and a great objective! Climb out of the valley for long views to the
sierras, arrive at Antonio's Bar in the village and try his mother's
tapas de boquerones. Antonio freezes his glasses before serving his beer
very, very cold. The walk back is all downhill
The Splashy Wellies Walk (20 minutes, or all day - wellies provided).
Great walking for the children, and you don't even leave El Molino! Start at one end
of the land and scramble through the tunnel of trees. Hunt for the wild
terrapins and build a dam
The Ruins Walk (1-2 hours)
Scramble down the stream towards the lake, past many old ruined houses and a
beautiful ruined mill.The Mirador walk
(2 hours)
A circular walk through Mediterranean oak woodland, starting
and finishing at a bar in the local village of Villanueva de Tapia
There are also dramatic hikes in some local National Parks, many within 45
minutes of El Molino. Try walking in the amazing high karst limestone scenery of El
Torcal (see photo above), near Antequera, where there are a selection of marked footpaths.
